Okay, so Grant was being rude.
But in his defense, running around Kanto with a Champion, of all people, was really not what a Grunt of Team Rocket should be doing. Especially a Grunt of Team Rocket who carried around a distinguishing feature that he wouldn’t be caught dead without. Unfortunately for Grant, though, he happened to fit both of these criteria - he was a Rocket Grunt, and he carried around a blunt weapon in the form of a three-foot-long metal pipe.
How’s that for distinguishing?
On the other hand, Grant was still in his ‘normal Kantonian native’ disguise - which basically meant ‘take off the hat and sweater-thing’. So he was somewhat less conspicuous to the general public (other Team Rocket agents, though, were an entirely different story).
Well, at least he had dropped Lance, right? And it wasn’t as if he had dropped Lance without taking some of his funding first, right? So he should be just fine.
...Well, at least he would be fine in the one part of a carnival that nobody ever visits if they aren’t looking specifically for tacky things they’ll never use. For he was strolling calmly through the dreaded Seaside Shop(pe)s, ignoring the shouting vendors and threatening particularly pesky ones with the Pipe.
He knew all about these kinds of things. As a practitioner of the sacred art of conning people, it was pretty easy for the trained eye to notice that a lot of these things are going to fall apart a few minutes after you buy them. It happens all the time, really. Unfortunately, Grant was not on the selling side of this easy-money exchange, but he still had the funding he stole from Lance; it was something.
At least until he found some really cool Pokémon or something and started beating ten-year-olds at irrelevant and childish fights.
Grunty was lying. =O Bad kitty! -Breloom
