Damn pointy rocks to hell.
Cyrus had ordered it, and so he had gone. Gone off to this new region, Kanto, where apparently, there was some important business to attend to, something regarding a wild pokemon. But the briefing would occur later. He had been flown in, in one of the team choppers, and been dropped off just east of Pewter City, with no information apart from the simple message to go east and stake out until further contact was made. Cyrus definitely knew more than he was letting on, but it seemed that for now he was keeping that information to himself. For whatever reason that was. Not that this was any different to always. They played by strict rules. No information given apart from the bare necessities so that one couldn’t jeopardise the mission if something went…wrong. Ant it was how Saturn liked to play it. No information meant no pain, and that was always an appreciated change in his life.
He stepped down the grassy path, hand on the pokéball at his side in case of wild pokémon , and as instructed, went east until he was faced with the entrance to a cave. Well, a cave seemed as good a place as any to stake out and wait for new information, and it was out of the elements too, so he decided to enter. Within, he was faced with, as in every other cave you do, lots of rocks, wild pokemon and more rocks. there were a few trainers scattered around, as you find in any unpopulated place, looking for a battle to try and strengthen their own party, but after taking one look at his ‘official’ clothing, they decided not to try battling him. Wise choice. For them.
He let out his Toxicroak, and cleared a small area of wild pokémon with a quick succession of poison jabs, before settling down and waiting for news. What he hadn’t prepared for was the rocks. Damn, they were all so uncomfortable! And they had ripped the leather of his white shoes. He frowned, ignoring the urge he had to reach down and try to get some of the mud off them. Instead, he sat down with his back to the cave wall, and rummaged around in his pack to make sure everything was packed. It wouldn’t be any good not to have all the necessary equipment, after all. He knew he had his transceiver, as he never left without it, and it was one of the most important pieces of equipment he had, as it was his means of communication with HQ. Once he made sure everything was organised, he sent a quick message over, stating he was in place and secure.
“G1, maintain current status, and await further orders.”
The reply, like all the others, was brief and to the point, and he took no notice of the use of his official tag. After all, the transceiver was keyed in so that all Commanders heard outgoing messages, and G1 simply specified who the orders were aimed at. Though it would be nice to have his name used once in a while. He settled himself a bit better, shuffling until he had found a patch of rock that was marginally less spiky than the others, and waited for his orders. For quite a while, he hadn’t moved, but to pop a mint into his mouth. He liked mints. They kept his mind focused on the task.

During the trip in the helicopter, the woman had gotten a look at parts of the region they were supposed to be moving to for Arceus knows how long, to a land that she was pretty sure none of them had ever been to before. Nevertheless, if it was Master Cyrus's orders, she'd go with without question, which was exactly what the redhead ended up doing. Saturn had gone ahead of her, and she was supposed to follow him. She had been dropped off near a large mountain -- it was called Mt. Moon or something, if she remembered correctly -- with a large hole carved in the side that was an entrance to a cave. Wonderful. She just loved having to wander around in caves. Of course, many trainers dotted the area, trying to toughen up their pathetic Pokemon. Of course, none of them would stand a chance against a battle with her. They probably realized that, which was why they avoided challenging her. Or it could've been the large feline that followed her, glaring down anyone or anything that came too close, as well as swatting away some pesky wild Pokemon that tried to attack the two. Mars paid the trainers and Pokemon no mind as she continued through the labyrinth that the cave twisted in, arms crossed. It was obviously quite easy to get lost in here, though luckily for the Commander, she didn't have to travel that far in before coming across a familiar blue feline-like hairstyle. "Hello there, Kitty-Head," Mars said, smirking. "You look a little bored."

He had sat so still, he could clearly hear the approach of a stranger. Quietly, he released his Toxicroak again, and whispered for it to stay quiet.
"Once they round the corner, poison jab them and their pokemon until they can no longer move." he told it. It uttered a small croak in understanding, and pulled back its right arm in preparation for the attack.
Obviously what neither of them were expecting was for the stranger to, in fact, be Commander Mars. The toxicroak, however, did not care who the person was, and simply tried to obey its trainers orders. it stood up quickly from its crouch and barrelled its way towards Mars and her Purugly.
"Toxicroac, cease." Saturn huffed, a slight frown on his face. The Toxicroak immediately stopped its attack, and with a disgruntled little "Crooaaak", went and stood beside its trainer. Standing up, Saturn swallowed the mint he had been chewing, and eyed Mars cautiously. After all, he hadn't known she would be arriving. Cyrus should have given him some warning, so as he could refrain from trying to ambush her, but he supposed Cyrus didn't much care about that. Or had simply not thought the mistake possible. Whatever the reason, Saturn would mention it next time they met. Which might not be for a while, seeing as they were now a region apart.
"Well, if it isn't G2, Commander Mars." he sneered, emphasising the words, the only inclanation he would give at his annoyance at her nickname for him. No need to fuel the fire. He stepped up to her, and nodded once, aknowledging her status as Commander, before turning away and picking up his pack. Replacing the transceiver into his pocket, he turned back towards her.
"What a pleasant surprise. Didn't expect to see you stalking me here."

"Easy, Purugly," Mars commanded, her crimson eyes glancing down at the large Pokemon, who was crouched and ready to pounce, fur bristling. At her trainer's order, she stood at her full height once more, though she eyed the Toxicroak carefully. The Commander turned her attention back to Saturn. "I'm not stalking you, Commander Saturn," she replied, frowning once more as she said this. "I'm here on orders, otherwise I'd still be in Sinnoh."

ooc: lol, crack length roleplaii 'cos we're soo cool... Bic:
Saturn smirked slightly at her reply. Of course she was here on official business. They hardly got a holiday from their jobs, after all. They didn't need holidays. Once a new world was in place, then they could have a rest. Until then, they stayed vigilant. But it was nice to know he had touched a nerve. Had he not, Mars would probably have just waved off his comment, and retaliated with something on the lines of 'you wish'.
"Detect a hint of resentment there, Mars?" he mocked, a slight smile softening his previously harsher features. He didn't like poking fun at others, but Mars was... not others. She was a Commander. She could take a bit of mockery from her fellow Commander, not to mention, superior. Not that he abused his power though. That wasn't like him. The status difference was only visible in the paperwork mountain. He winced mentally, remembering the precarious pile stacked on his desk at the moment, then banned that thought. If it fell over, it wasn't his fault. HE WASN'T THERE.
She used his proper name, but only because he had. That made him snicker slightly. Ah, what immature fun. Truly, they could take potshots at each others names for hours, if they so chose. He could still remember the one argument over her first use of his nickname, 'kitty-head', which had lasted for almost two days. He liked to believe he won that argument, as Mars had refused to talk to him except for official business for a whole week. But the nickname had stuck, and so he supposed it was somewhat of a draw. Pity, that.
But the smile vanished at the mention of orders. Well, finally, some proper information. Maybe now he'd find out what this was all about.
"Alright, Mars, orders. What orders did you receive? What's the time limit? And aim of operation?" He questioned smoothly, used to this work of things. Some things you got programmed into your system after a while. Then it was almost automatic.

Mars's gaze hardened into a glare for a second as he mocked her. She wasn't really in the mood to stand here and get into yet another argument with the bluenette. Right now, she only wanted to be out of this damn cave and carry on with the assigned mission already. She opened her mouth, about to tell the other Commander what they were ordered to do when a thought struck her, and she closed it again with at small smirk. "You'll see," she said simply, stepping around the male with her Purugly padding obediently behind her. "Now we should probably get out of this cave."

He saw the flicker of a glare aimed in his direction. Yet again he had succeeded in annoying the redhead. Score for him. If he remembered, he was now only one behind on score front. Time to catch up.
"Aw, Spike, don't be mad at me. You know I only kid. One as...bright and sharp as you should understand that." It was a lame joke, but still. It was the cave. It was making his witty comeback selection dwindle to nothingness. He sighed. Never mind. once they got out, it would come back, and he wouldn't have to stoop to hair analogy's to prod at his fellow Commander. But at least the score was even now.
Was even. She had decided to keep the mission information from him. Damn. What bait to hang over his head. Now he was behind again too, and by a mile. That hit definitely counted for five~ Damn. Why hadn't Cyrus told him the mission details? He frowned, shuffling his foot in annoyance slightly, ignorant of the fact he was doing this.
"That's not fair, Spike. I gotta know what's happening."
He realised he was whining slightly, but missions was something he was very impassioned about, and not knowing what he was getting himself into made him nervous. He always knew what was happening. He always wanted to know what was happening. Needed to know. Had to know. He was overreacting, he knew, as she'd tell him soon enough, but the suspense was killing him.
She stepped around him, but he made no move to follow. He was sulking, he knew that too, but he couldn't help it. He needed to know. Face a blank mask, he crossed his arms and stood his ground. He wouldn't move until he knew why he was meant to move.
"I have my orders. I am to remain here and await orders. So logically, I cannot move unless I know the orders. Otherwise I'd be disobeying, and Cyrus would blow a casket if I did that." he countered her statement. If she gave him any information at all, it would be better than nothing. And he did want to get out of the cave. He had a grudge against the rocks here, and didn't want to stay here any longer than necessary. But without orders, he wouldn't move. His Toxicroak looked at him oddly, then took a step towards Mars and her Purugly. Saturn rolled his eyes. Obviously, it was showing whose side it was on in this. Never mind. It wouldn't leave him. It was just showing him how immature he was being about all of this.
He refused to look at any of them, and simply stared at the wall just above their heads, fiddling with his sleeve. It had a small hole in it, and he frowned. He'd have to fix that, or he wouldn't be able to concentrate. But he refused to move.
"I won't move without some sort of update."
ooc: lol, whiny Saturn ooc~ deal <3

The nickname "Spike" as well as the pun about said spike annoyed the Commander, like it always did, but she kept it hidden. After all, she still had the advantage over Kitty-Head, and it was starting to show. He started shuffling his foot, obviously annoyed that she wasn't going to tell him anything, and when he spoke, his voice sounded a bit whiny. She smirked at this. But then she saw that he wasn't going to move from that spot, at least not until she told him. Her smirk instantly disappeared as she faced him once more, crossing her arms as well. She didn't want to tell him anything just yet, and she wasn't going to. "I'm sure Cyrus would be even angrier if he found out we couldn't carry out our mission because you refused to leave this cave," she countered. The redhead heard a soft huff from her Purugly, obviously wishing her trainer would just tell him the orders so they could leave. Then again, she knew Mars better than that, and either Saturn would give in and follow, or Mars would get fed up with waiting and tell him already.

Mars smirked, but her smirk soon vanished, when she realised he was serious about not moving from the spot. And then she threatened him with consequences. Saturn's eyes widened. Consequences was something he didn't deal with very well. He couldn't stand it. Bad consequences.Bad consequences following bad decisions. Wrong turns, mistakes, accidents, failures...
"Fine." he replied tersely, his face hard and eyes cold. He couldn't jeopardise the mission and face the consequences of it, simply refusing to move. He would not cope with that well. And that would cause mistakes, and mistakes would lead to failures and that...that led to more pain. No more. Not this time.
He nodded sharply at his Toxicroak which, sensing the abrupt change in his mood, silently stepped behind him as he stalked past Mars, towards the far exit of the cave. Without needing orders, his Toxicroak poison jabbed any wild pokemon that got too close to them, as they made their way out of the cave system. But he would get some sort of promise of an update from Mars. He had to have some promise of information.
"Commander Mars, once we are out of these caves, you are to give me a full briefing on what our precise orders are. Do you copy?" he asked smoothly, without even turning his head back to look at her, not even looking if she was following him or not. He damn well hoped she was. Otherwise there'd be consequences. And she would be on the receiving end.
ooc: snappity snap snap Saturn~ poor guy~ mood swings~!

As Saturn's eyes widened, Mars automatically knew she had won the argument before he even said his one-word reply and stalked past her. Once he had passed, she allowed herself a smirk before turning around and following him, her large feline companion trotting obediently beside her trainer, swatting away the Pokemon that the Toxicroak had left in their way. Mars was oblivious to her Pokemon's actions as she followed the bluenette through the cave, wondering whether or not she should continue withholding her information or just telling Saturn already. She had already won, so was there really any need to keep it to herself anymore? Then again, watching Kitty-Head squirm was just too amusing. I should end it here before I get too carried away, the redhead finally decided before replying, "Yes, Commander Saturn, I copy. However, I think you'll be rather disappointed nonetheless; Cyrus hasn't entrusted me with the complete orders of the mission." She frowned at this, obviously frustrated that their leader hadn't trusted her with the information. Well, she did know more than Saturn. "Once we are out of this cave, I will tell you what I do know. Will that satisfy you?"

He was letting her get to him, and he knew it. He couldn't do that. He couldn't lose control. That could lead...
NO. He refused to think like that. Mars gave her word she would relay the orders to him, so he shouldn't be anxious anymore. After all, a precise order from him had been folowed, so it meant he still had some sort of respect and authority, even after such immature actions. Although maybe it wasn't his authority she was responding to, but Cyrus'. For some reason that made him feel...odd. For some reason, the thought of the posibility she didn't take him seriously made him feel bad. He frowned slightly, and shook his head. What a stupid thought. Did it matter why she followed the order? She followed it. The end. That was what was important.
"No matter, Mars. I wouldn't expect Cyrus to give out all the imformation to an inferior." he replied, not turning to look at her. Only after he said it did he realise it could potentially hurt her, but ignored the brief thought. After all, he himself was inferior too. And he hadn't received any information whatsoever.
"I shall be satisfied insofar as you do relay the whole message across to me. And I do not wish to be...teased with information again. Any holdup could potentially disrupt the given mission. But I take it these instructions are not immediate, and no immediate effects shall be felt from delayed action. Otherwise, I shall hold you responsible for the outcome, Mars."
He was being overly affected by this and it disturbed him. He shouldn't be affected by this. But luckily before he could get too distracted by the random thoughts filtering through his brain (seriously, what was up with some of those?!), they had reached the other end of the cave, and the warm sunlight engulfed him as he stepped outside into it. He always preferred the outside. More room to run...
Maybe he had been a bit harsh. He didn't know. The dazzling sunlight and warmth made him feel funny and nice, after the rather cold, hard cave. Still not looking around, he mumbled a quiet apology.
"Sorry, Mars."
He didn't know if she heard, or if he had actually spoken out loud, but he was distracted. The lack of mission, the change of atmosphere and the hole in his sleeve were all distracting him. But it felt better.
ooc: hmm, meaningful? IDK. Make of this what thou wilt.

Mars's initial reaction to Saturn's "inferior" remark was surprise, which changed to hurt, which then quickly changed to anger. Why did she even care what he thought, anyway? A little remark like that shouldn't have bothered her as much as it did. For that, she mentally kicked herself. Besides, who was he to call her and inferior, when Cyrus hadn't even given him any orders at all in the first place? As the Commander stepped outside, the sun's rays immediately began attacking her eyes, which were still adjusted to see in the dimly-lit cave. This only added to her irritation. She squinted and held a hand in front of her to try and shield them from the sudden light until they finally adjusted themselves once more, which was when she heard Saturn's mumbled apology. "I don't see why you would want to apologize to an 'inferior,'" she replied, a little more venomously than she had intended, but at that moment, she didn't really care.

He smirked.
After all, it was either that or sigh. Ant that was pathetic and useless. So he smirked. And along with the change in the surroundings, his arcenal of retorts seemed to reawaken. That cave had been like a dampener on his mentality. He had gotten so antsy over nothing back there. But no more of that.
"Shouldn't a gentleman always apologise to a lady?" he turned to her, topaz eyes slightly lidded, the only trace of his previous bad feelings, the rest hidden away behind the mask of a smirk. With his head still tilted in her direction, he walked away from the clammy coolness emanating from the cave entrance, and instead surveyed the surroundings, hands on hips, the small smirk still in place.
"And you don't mean to tell me a small remark like that actually affected you, Commander Mars, did it? Really, you should concern yourself more with the situation at hand."
After having made sure the clearing they had ended up in was free of any evasdroppers, Saturn took out his transceiver and relayed a quick message back to headquarters, stating he had met up with Mars and they were on target to beginning the mission. The lack of reply didn't worry Saturn overly much, as Cyrus was definitely too busy with something...important to reply to such a trivial message, but the sound-activated recorder back at HQ would have saved the relayed message, and hopefully, Cyrus would receive it when he was less...busy.
"Now, my fellow inferior, would you relay the orders across to me, so we can finally start this mission?" He turned back to her after pocketing the transceiver, smirk still clearly visible on his face.

The entire time Saturn smirked, Mars frowned in return, arms crossed as she glared daggers at him, while loathing the fact that he was managing to get to her, and she didn't seem able to get to him in return anymore. This irritation seemed to also put a limit on her quality of retorts, which only fed the irritation. "'Gentleman' isn't exactly the word I'd choose to describe you," she muttered, mostly to herself, though loud enough for the other to hear her. She tried to ignore his second comment, though with very little success. "If I wasn't concerned more about the situation at hand," the Commander replied, trying to keep the anger out of her voice as she did so, "I wouldn't be about to inform you of our mission, would I?" Mars ignored his smirk as she walked past him a couple steps before stopping, gazing at the landscape before her for a few seconds before turning around to face Saturn. "Our mission," she began, "is to capture a legendary Pokemon for examination. Specifically Mew, who has supposedly been sighted on Faraway Island. Apparently, there is a cruise ship leaving for the island relatively soon, but of course we'll be using much different methods of transportation."
