So, it's time for a new question.
I realize that several members on here have not met the full quota of characters you can have. Others are sitting on the brink of a full cast and are pulling their hair out trying to decide if they want to try for a new character or cling desperately to the group they already have.
That is the purpose of this poll.
I believe that upping the character count might help to get the forums back in gear with some fresh faces and a wider variety of opportunities for playing. Some people also tend to use certain characters more for crack, others for full out forum plays. This option would again cater to individuals and their character usage.
I'd love to get your opinions as, although I am an admin, this is our site. Vote and leave your comments here~

Psh. My opinion isn't much in this case, but I think it's a good idea.
Can't say how/when I'd apply for more characters, though. Seeing as how I suck at writing procrastinate like hell.
This might seem like a dumb question, but will there be any consequences for not applying for more characters?
Like... Will be be banned from certain activities or anything? sorry. just felt like I had to ask.

Of course not, Happy.
I believe the purpose of a set number of characters is so that: - members do not feel overwhelmed to stay active. - members remain active with said characters. - members can remain active while still developing said characters.
There are no negative consequences for having less than the maximum.

Well, i think that we COULD use the five-character thing, but you guys should seriously enforce the 'Must be able to double' rule. About half the people I've seen with four charries haven't used two characters in the same thread... and I'm kinda one of those people pulling their hair out (we can't have alternate personalities anymore, so i think Mesprit is pretty much a no-no).
So.

i think that people should only have a certain amount of characters. i mean, not everyone can handle more than a certain amount. granted, some can, and i think that some people should be allowed more if they have proved that the characters they have are well-developed and used-often and really, really want another specific character. another thing is that is can be a turn-off to new members if they come on and only want one character only to find that someone already took them. not only that, but someone who already has a lot of characters. so i think in general there should be a limit, but perhaps with exceptions. also, i would like to add that it's not required to have more than one character in the same thread. to be honest, yes, i try to avoid it sometimes because then my whole intro is dedicated to interacting... with myself. and then i feel like i'm talking to myself later! it's different than a roleplay on neo or something, when characters can be in different places or whatever. i don't think it should be required to double. on certain threads, yes, but just in general? it just gets awkward sometimes. so, no, it isn't REQUIRED to double in the same thread. a lot of people like keeping characters separate sometimes, especially if the characters don't know each other (like mine. i guess maylene and volkner would know each other, but wes wouldn't know or care about either of them). guh, there's my little (LONG) tidbit there. :/

I like this idea a lot, actually. Then again, Sarchu has a point about new members. We don't want to lose joiners simply because the character they want is taken already.
Then again, we haven't really had many new joiners, so I'm all for this idea. C:
Oh, and Bre, I altered the rules slightly to prevent confusion. It is not necessary to play two characters in the same thread. What was meant by 'doubling' was simply the ability to play one character in one thread, and then another in a separate thread. So I just edited that slightly to prevent anyone from misunderstanding in a similar way.

I'm really enjoying these opinions.
In terms of doubling, I believe you all have explained things quite well. I tend not to double up with my characters in threads because they either don't know each other or I would feel like they are interacting more with each other than other characters. However, let's say we actually get into the cruise plot. I would certainly be able to have Jessie and Gio speaking in the same place discussing Rocket matters. It all depends on what you're comfortable with and if the interactions you are creating make sense.
Also, I don't believe that we are going to deter too many members by upping the limit by one. I recently updated the list of playable characters and found 10-15 new names to add in the Gym Leader section, let alone an entire region of Frontier Brains. We also have several legendaries and almost every movie character still open, so there are countless choices for players new to our site to choose from.
I'll leave this poll up over the weekend and see if we get any other new opinions.

The voices have spoken. Members are now allowed to have up to FIVE playable characters.
