Evolution is an experience studied by professors alike around the region of Kanto. When a Pokemon is born from an egg, it is in its first stage. Typically this first stage is small, and usually only knows one or two attacks of its type. However, oftentimes without warning, a Pokemon will begin a process known as "Evolution". It may occur in a middle of a battle, while traveling, or in the presence of an item, but indescribably the said Pokemon will begin to glow until it is pure white. As recorded, the Pokemon will then begin to change shapes. The Evolution process typically lasts five to twenty seconds, during which the Pokemon will begin to grow larger and fill out, often gaining new body parts. After the evolution has ended, the glow will fade, leaving a different-looking but the same Pokemon in its place. Most Pokemon undergo Evolution, but some Pokemon have never been known to evolve.
It is unknown what causes this sudden "Evolution". In most cases, a Pokemon will evolve by itself, and typically during a battle. Some theories suggest that Pokemon evolve under stress, while others offer that they evolve when they reach a certain power level, or a certain age. Examples of Pokemon that evolve by themselves are Weedle, Pidgey, Poochyena, and Belsprout, and even more powerful Pokemon like Charmander, Larvitar, Machop, and Dratini. Theories seem to lean towards that Pokemon evolve when they get stronger or at least more experienced, since many tame Pokemon never evolve, and those in the wild evolve less frequently than those in a trainer's possession. To get a Pokemon to evolve quickly it is suggested that you engage it in battles frequently. While evolving a Pokemon oftentimes strengthens it, its known attacks do not change during the process of Evolution.
However, some theories also suggest that Evolution has to do with minerals in the earth. For there are some species that are not able to evolve without that aid of a stone. These stones are found down in mines, and their colors correspond to the Pokemon they make evolve. The most notable case of Stone Evolution is with the Pokemon Eevee, who has the ability to evolve into three different new species of Pokemon, depending which stone it is presented with. However, researchers have just discovered that if Eevee is not given a stone and is simply allowed to grow, it will evolve into two different species, corresponding to the times of day. Other Pokemon that require stones to evolve are Vulpix, Poliwhirl, Pikachu, and Nuzleaf. However, stones can only evolve certain types of Pokemon. Pokemon that evolve naturally will not automatically evolve when presented with a stone, and Pokemon that do require a stone to evolve will never - or at least have never been recorded to - evolve without the aid of a stone. However, a clear stone - called an "Everstone" - has recently been discovered, and if always attached to the Pokemon, it will not evolve naturally nor if presented with a different stone.

Though on this site, there's a little different method to getting your Pokemon to evolve. In order to enter the process of Evolution - the natural one, without the stones - all you had to do is have fifty posts. Once you reach fifty, an admin will contact you and tell you that you can evolve one of your Pokemon. Just one, one that evolves naturally, and only up one stage. You can choose to roleplay this out if you're in the middle of a battle, or just have it happen automatically. When you get another fifty posts, you can evolve another one, or the same one again. However, if your Pokemon requires a stone to evolve, you must buy it from one of the stores and give it to one of your Pokemon. Mind you, you do not have to have your Pokemon evolve when you hit fifty posts, and you do not have to have it evolve right away. Remember; evolving a Pokemon makes it larger and physically stronger and faster, but its attacks do not change in any way.
