Light immediately collapsed beneath the darkness provided by the shrouding treetops. Evening had barely begun and Gary knew the sun was still present, but that didn’t keep Viridian Forest from presenting a façade of night. Shadows fell over the brown spikes that climbed from his head and hung over his face like a seasoned jolteon‘s mane. His dark eyes were only enunciated by the darkness rather than dimmed; his pointed nose protruded into the concealed air, chin held naturally--despite the foreboding atmosphere, Gary acted as his usual, unbothered self. Not a breeze swept through the leafy locale; Gary’s clothes hung still from his frame. The collar of his black shirt jutted up smoothly around his neck, around which dangled a green and yellow pendant. Around his waist swung a belt that was home to two pokeballs, one of which belonged to the rattata at Gary’s boot-clad feet. Her pink eyes appeared to glow beneath the treetop flora, and her whiskers and ears twitched rampantly in response to all the life that was strange to her. Speckles of green shadows marked her violet fur, and her tail swayed beneath them with each sensitive paw-step.
The trainer’s hands were casually located inside the pockets of his baggy jeans. After taking the first couple of steps into the throng of trees and grass, he stopped and considered his surroundings. With a turn of his head, he allowed his brown eyes to crawl over the curves of tree trunks. Like little bells, the sounds of bug life chimed in Gary’s ears. Feeding, crawling, singing… Either way, Gary was going to catch them.
The bulk of the forest did not block the outside sounds traveling further behind Gary. With a dip of his eyelids, Gary recalled the fact that he was being followed by not one, but three Gym Leaders, (one might think this was flattering, and of course it was no surprise to Gary that they wanted to bask in his amazingness, but he was more of a loner and having company like that for very long was just annoying) one of which he knew would be of absolutely no use to him. She had insisted on ‘helping’ him train, although that was something Gary was certain he did not need. He had been raised in a Pokemon lab; he knew what he was doing. Other than that, the only thing she did was take out her PMS fits on him. He had known her since even before he had started his Pokemon Journey, as she chose to be friends with Ash. Their background did not soften his attitude towards her; in fact, it only made Gary more comfortable and justified in teasing her. The other was one he had challenged, but who was almost as bad. Bugsy was a bug-type Gym Leader from Azalea Town, from a region other than Kanto, but he was a kid. Aside from the fact that Gary wasn’t too keen on those younger than himself, Bugsy just seemed unaware of what it was like to be an actual trainer. He was probably spoiled and raised with pre-trained pokemon, had it easy. He didn’t seem to understand how Gary needed to do things. The third was one Gary hadn’t taken the time to acquaint himself with due to concern for time, but he assumed he was just like any other Gym Leader, waiting to be defeated.
Those three traveled close behind him, though Gary wasn’t in the mood to wait--besides, if they knew what was best for them, they’d take care to keep up. They might have trained pokemon, but Gary had a lifetime of hands-on experience in handling and identifying and the like. He was Gary Oak, and soon everyone would know his name!
Grinning to himself at this thought, Gary grabbed the one occupied pokeball that had been hooked on his belt. With a smug expression, he tossed it from his hand and caught it once before turning it over and clicking the center button. It opened up within his palm, and from it jumped a flash of red light. Despite the sole illumination within the forest, it hardly penetrated the darkness past the source. It faded quickly, and on the ground in front of Gary, Squirtle appeared. He hadn’t been healed from before--the blood on Rattata’s teeth (now drawn away by naturally secreting saliva) had been taken from Squirtle’s tail which still bore the wound, although it had scabbed up into a red mark against the blue curl.
“Squirt.” the water pokemon squeaked, blinking with brown eyes into the forest.
”I want you to concentrate,” In response to Gary’s voice, Squirtle peeked over his shoulder. ”You know what you need to improve on, so take whatever shot you get.” He spoke matter-of-factly, stuffing his hand back into his pocket. ”Okay?”
”Squirtle!” Squirtle nodded enthusiastically, though worry traced his brow and wavered his lips. He hoped he could do this--he couldn’t take disappointing his trainer again.
”That goes for you too, Rattata.” Gary acknowledged the purple rat, turning his gaze on the pokemon.
”Ta,” Rattata replied typically, facing determined features towards the depth of the forest.
Satisfied, Gary turned an expression of optimistic resolve to the path ahead of him and began walking. Squirtle kept ahead while Rattata kept pace with the trainer, all senses alert for their first test.

[/i] carefully), one could tell its gender was male. It was smaller than most with large, beady black eyes that sparkled with contentment as it chewed on the berry it had discovered, and its body was plump from nibbling on berries all day long. It's length, though, wasn't impressive at all, and perhaps it was just taking it awhile to grow. Small little coos came from its throat as it snugged the berry with it's little, stubby arms; and took its time eating it with little tiny bites. It didn't looked threatening at all -- not even challenging. Would Gary fight this Pokemon to train his own..? If he thought about capturing Pokemon, did he want one that looked so weak..? It appeared completely innocent, and would probably more than likely run away. But who knows, really. It was too wrapped up in its berry eating to notice anything. If this Pokemon didn't appeal to Gary, perhaps the Beedrill lurking in the tree next to it would. [/ul] A WILD CATERPIE APPEARED!● GENDER -- MALE● MOVES -- TACKLE, STRING SHOT● ABILITY -- SHIELD DUST

The ominous trees of Viridian Forest stretched out in front Bugsy as he paused a moment before entering. The gloom and darkness he could see within was a great contrast to the bright, sunny weather he had experienced earlier by the pond. But while most would have stared up at the intimidating, dark trees with a measure of fear, Bugsy smiled. It was less bravery or fearlessness that inspired this reaction, and more obliviousness. After all, the only thing the young Gym Leader saw when he looked into the trees was the potential research. A cheery look entered his blue-green eyes, and feeling for his bug-catching net behind him, Bugsy began to move into the trees where he had seen Gary disappear moments before.
He sped up into a jog the moment he was within the trees, gazing around with unbridled enthusiasm. The bugs were out of sight, of course, surely having hidden at the approach of humans. But Bugsy knew where to look; they couldn’t hide from such an avid researcher. He sped up momentarily, running towards a tree and leaping up to grab one of the low hanging branches. He pulled himself up onto it and looked around, his suddenly very serious and focused gaze boring through the forest gloom.
Spotting Gary up ahead he moved to go after him, leaping agilely from tree to tree.
“Hello, Gary!” he greeted as he leaped past, making sure he was loud enough to be heard, but not loud enough to startle any Bugs that may have been still lurking nearby.
The boy paused as he leaped onto a partially-hollowed out tree, peering into the dark hole. He suddenly ducked down however, as a Weedle’s stinger shot out of it towards his curious face. Chuckling to himself despite the rather close call, Bugsy gazed around again, spotting, to his surprise, a Bug out in the open. A pudgy, slightly runty looking Caterpie was munching merrily on a berry, immune to or not caring about the presence of humans. Gary was still nearby, so he waved frantically at the older boy, gesturing at the Bug.
If Gary wanted to catch a super-cool Bug, which he should have, then this was his chance! Bugsy’s smile was wide and ecstatic as he looked from the Caterpie to Gary, resisting the urge to jump up and down on the branch he stood on. He didn’t want to frighten away the Bug, after all.

His first prey came into view, and a confident smirk boasted its way onto Gary's face. He whipped out his pokedex immediately, and the proper ding sounded as it identified the pokemon.
Caterpie: The Worm Pokemon. It releases a stench from its red antenna to repel enemies. It grows by molting repeatedly.
The voice of the handheld device shattered the forest silence, but its gentle rub made no affliction to Gary's ears. The display on the pokedex indicated Caterpie's type--bug--along with its weaknesses. Of course, Gary already knew most of this information--he was merely gathering data for the pokedex as a favor to his Gramps. None of his pokemon were particularly strong against this type, but upon further inspection, Gary deduced that the worm pokemon appeared rather frail and weak. Not worth catching, but may as well get it out of the way.
The Bug-wielding Gym Leader had caught up and was now overexciting himself about the bug eating happily on the forest floor. Gary frowned at the boy: earlier, Bugsy had been jumping through trees as he had greeted Gary before continuing forward. Gary had just been reminded why he didn't like little kids so much. Still, as he turned away from Bugsy and focused back on the creature, he couldn't help a small grin from appearing beneath his pointed nose from his satisfied ego. "Hmph," he hummed confidently, one hand on his hip. Sure, he could put on a show. Squirtle needed a little easy practice, anyway. "Squirtle, tackle attack." he ordered, brow becoming serious despite the lack of threat Caterpie presented.
The addressed pokemon grounded himself in response, tensing his muscles as he prepared the attack. His curled, blue tail seemed to fasten itself to his round shell, and his stubby limbs bent sturdily. "Squirtle!" the water pokemon affirmed, launching himself at the busy caterpie.

This day simply couldn't get any better. Well, the day probably could, but not this particular berry. It was sweet and juicy and delicious and...well, nothing could ruin it. Nothing! Taking another bite, Caterpie cooed for joy within such simple strains of logic. Antennae pricking slightly as the breeze danced through each tiny branch, the bug's little body shivering before chewing delicately and swallowing. But...what was this? There was something thick and gooey oozing out onto his tiny suction cups! Juice! The berry was full of juice! OH HAPPY DAY! Whirring in delight, Caterpie was just about to partake in this new (and rather exciting) development when the silence of his otherwise safe and satisfying fantasy words was suddenly shattered. "Squirtle, tackle attack.""Squirtle!"As the attack sent its victim into a slow and steady darkness, Caterpie's last thoughts were longingly expressed in the direction of his sweet berry, now dripping wastefully onto the forest floor several feet away. My...love...and Caterpie closed his eyes, a delayed bit of string shot spraying pathetically over his lower, twitching feet. CATERPIE HAS BEEN DEFEATED! YOU BIG BULLY.

Bugsy had returned to his calm, observant researcher state after a few moments of rapid bouncing at the sight of the Caterpie. What could he honestly say? It was a thrill to be in Viridian Forest again, surrounded by the the wildlife and the Bugs. it was like being back home in Ilex Forest except here everything was new. The indigenous species were almost identical, but in Kanto Bugsy's sharp eye (at least when it came to Bugs) could pick out tiny differences in colour, pattern, and size.
The Caterpie he had so very enthusiastically pointed out to Gary looked rather run-of-the-mill, perhaps even runty, but it was still a Bug. Gary had seen it, it appeared, as he had a proud grin on his face, and he had let out his Squirtle.
The Gym Leader sat down on the branch he was in, letting his legs dangle over the edge with one arm against the trunk beside him for balance. He watched as Squirtle launched himself at the Caterpie, wincing in pity as the small Caterpie was knocked backed at the direct hit.
"Hey Gary! You can catch it now!" Bugsy called happily, his dangling legs kicking out a few times in his excitement.

Yes! The attack hit! Sure, it was a rather runty, distracted opponent that he had aimed his tackle at, but he had carried out the instructions his trainer had given him nonetheless. Pride renewed, Squirtle caught himself, grounding both hands and feet as he confidently watched the caterpie for the result of the tackle. His cherub mouth grinned and his brown eyes brightened; Caterpie had lost! "Squirt!" the water pokemon uttered triumphantly, getting to his feet and puffing out his successful chest.
Rattata watched from her trainer's side, tail twitching slightly, but she was otherwise expressionless. Her red eyes were intense and focused on Squirtle's performance; there was a certain amount of devotion that had been gained for her trainer quickly, and taking training seriously was something she was obligated to do.
It wasn't anything Gary hadn't expected. Even though his own pokemon left something to be desired, there was no question that they were more powerful than that pathetic excuse for a caterpie. Still, with an audience, Gary couldn't help but smirk. He had known the result of the battle before it had even begun, of course, and having such intuition so early on was something to be proud of. Gary was just talented that way. In response to Bugsy's chipper voice, Gary turned, quirking a sharp eyebrow. "Why would I want to waste a pokeball on that?" he asked nasally, lifting his hands in a shrug. "That must've been one of the weakest caterpies here. It'll be a piece of cake to find a stronger one." While he said this, he still grinned, callous towards any opinion other than his own prestigious judgment. Before he had the chance to turn and continue his trek through the forest in search of a stronger, better caterpie, the crackle and rustle of foliage beneath rubber tires emerged from behind him.
"Gary, Gary! He's our man! If he can't do it, no one caaaaan!"
The boy in question turned in response to the melodious voices of cheering girls. His grin slowly faded, replaced by a wide-eyed frown. What were they doing bringing his car into the Viridan Forest?! "Girls!" Gary cried, stepping towards the slowly approaching convertible, its red color screaming, which honked a few times to announce its presence.
"Gary! Gary!" the girls replied happily in unison. Gary did not appear so glad to see them. Instead of addressing the girls, however, he immediately approached the car, running his hand over the front and narrowing his eyes, hoping for the girls' sakes that it hadn't been scratched. He couldn't be seen driving around in a less-than-perfect vehicle.
Squirtle and Rattata turned, watching. While Squirtle only appeared vaguely surprised and curious, Rattata seemed rather annoyed. Her purple ears lowered, and there was certainly an irritated glare to her red eyes.

The branch he was settled on wasn't really high up, but jumping down from it directly did not seem like a good idea to Bugsy. He eyed the bark of the tree, realizing it was rather gnarled, and it should have been possible to climb down it safely.
The boy grabbed onto the trunk and climbed down a little, clawing a bit at the bark and using the grips on his shoes for support. Eventually he was low enough, and he let himself drop the final distance.
He wiped the moss and bits of bark off his hands as he approached Gary and the proud Squirtle by his side.
But at what Gary said in response to Bugsy's previous statement, the young Gym Leader stopped in his tracks.
"Waste a pokeball...? But if you weren't planning to catch the Caterpie, why did you attack it?" Bugsy demanded, hastily closing the remaining distance between them. His eyebrows knitted together and Bugsy pouted slightly. Why would this trainer have hurt an innocent Bug if he wasn't planning to catch it? Maybe for training but...it was hardly training since the insect was weak and hadn't even put up a fight.
Bugsy's expression became indignant. "Gary! You know, a lot of people think Beedrill are very violent. But really, they're just trying to defend their hives. They don't attack without a reason. Attacking something without purpose--" Bugsy began yet another Bug-related lecture, however, his voice was drowned out by...females cheering?
Cheering for Gary? Bugsy turned and eyed the approaching car with surprise. He didn't move, even as Gary addressed the girls and approached, gazing at the front of the car as if looking for scratches. Bugsy instinctively raised an arm to wave in polite greeting at the girls. They seemed to be cheering for Gary so he assumed he knew them since they obviously knew him.
But the car! It was making so much noise in the silent forest, surely scaring nearby Bugs further into their habitats. “Gary! Please, get them to stop the car! It’s scaring away the Bugs!” Bugsy cried desperately, biting his lip and gazing around as if every second the car was running it was bringing the insects farther and farther away.

Once again, Bugsy's lectures went ignored--sure, he was a Gym Leader, and probably experienced, but on top of Gary's lack of interest in others' ways of doing things, (Gary just had his own way of training, and that was that) the girls had interrupted, and that had to be attended to.
One girl in particular drove the car--her nails boasted a French manicure, though painted purple with pink, swirly designs. Her blond hair fell in curls that resembled plastic, twisted yellow doughnuts over her shoulders. Her face was done-up and pale, sporting thickly lashed eyes and thin, bright pink lips. She flashed happy, white teeth, watching Gary with interest. The girls behind her maintained their own styles and appearances, though the outfits of all the girls were similar: always tight tops that exposed their navels, and always short skirts, although some of them chose to add knee-high socks or jackets and the like. Although the car only contained five smooth, leather seats, there were six girls packed together in the back, which made seven in total. Most of them had decided to stand up, waving their pompoms at Gary and giggling. None of them seemed to register the displeasure on Gary's pointed face.
"Hey Gary, we've got some news for you," the girl in the front cooed; her voice was low and scratchy, though it was not without a certain sensual quality.
Gary was frowning, and he wasn't listening. Not to her, anyway; he turned to Bugsy, sticking one of his hands into his back pocket. "No, I agree," he replied unhappily, turning to the girls. He normally treated them quite nicely, but their stupidity at times was overwhelming. He took a step away from the car and addressed his girls. "What are you girls thinking, driving my car in here?! You could be scaring the Bugs," he stressed, raising an eyebrow. Although he was keeping a perfectly straight face, he was inwardly mocking the only male of his company for his affection towards the creatures in the forest. Not only that, but it was a good way to go about getting the girls to back out of the woods in an amusing manner--"Or, worse yet, they might be angered enough to swarm and attack." Gary frowned indignantly, sticking his nose in the air and closing his eyes matter-of-factly.
A few of the girls seemed to shudder at this prospect: however, one rather scatterbrained individual tore everyone's attention away from Gary's warning.
"LOOK! AW, HE'S SO CUTE!"
Gary was startled for a moment: had they spotted Squirtle behind him? Gary glanced back at the turtle pokemon, but he was gazing in another direction. Gary's eyes followed, landing on Bugsy just as the screaming girl threw herself onto him. Her brown hair fell in long cinnamon twists down her back, and she wore a leather jacket over the tiniest tube top possible. She had lunged for Bugsy, aiming to wrap her arms around his adorable purple head and plunge him into her chest.

Some of these females...were barely wearing clothes. Bugsy couldn't help but wonder what possessed them to wear such skimpy attire when it was simply so impractical! The tight shirts that exposed stomachs didn't look particularly comfortable, and surely didn't allow for much movement. And as a researcher who barely ever stopped moving, Bugsy found these fancily-dressed females strange and impossible to understand.
The girl who was driving, a female with blond curls and very carefully applied makeup, was the first to speak up without the other 6 chorusing along with her. They had...news for Gary? And that was why they had driven into a delicate ecosystem of Bug pokemon with a noisy, offensive vehicle?! It just seemed a petty reason to Bugsy, however, he didn't speak up on his irritation. That would have been rude. Instead, he instinctively smiled in greeting at each of the girls when any glanced at him, boing his head down slowly at the same time.
But it appeared that Bugsy was paying more attention to Gary's cheerleaders than the spiky-haired boy himself was, as Gary was speaking to him. He agreed? Bugsy gave him a wide smile of gratefulness and relief. He started to address the girls now, in an exasperated and rather angry tone. The young gym leader didn't feel good about letting Gary speak to anyone like, that, but he didn't speak. However, he heard the way Gary accentuated the 'scaring the bugs' statement as if amused by it. Was the older boy...mocking him? He wasn’t sure, so he didn’t comment. But when Gary tried to scare the girls by giving them false information…Well, he couldn’t just let that slide!
"Gary!" Bugsy began in a stern tone, pouting despite it. "You shouldn't make fun of what other people like! It isn’t nice, and I wouldn’t do that to you, so you should return the favour!” He began. He took a breath and continued, maintaining both the stern voice and this time even frowning. “And also, the Bugs will not swarm us because of the car! Most will flee, and the only ones who might are the Beedrill, but their nest is far enough away they won’t be threatened. So don’t say that.”
Bugsy maintained the slight glare at Gary a moment as if to force the message to sink in. But unfortunately, at that moment, Bugsy was alerted to danger. One of the females was lunging at him. He could deal with getting charged by a Scyther, or attacked by a Pinsir, or jumped by an Ariados. But this living projectile tossing herself towards him was completely unfamiliar and strange.
“Mmph!” Was the inarticulate cry Bugsy made as he was grabbed into something of an embrace. His face was pulled into a well-developed chest and he felt himself redden as his arms flailed uselessly by his side.

The girl's eccentric behavior didn't seem to perturb Gary. In fact, he paid the display no outward heed whatsoever. Instead, he focused on what Bugsy had said, leaning against his car as the other girls and his pokemon looked on.
"I know you're the bug expert here and all," Gary crooned, closing his eyes and arching his eyebrows in a rather condescending manner, "but I'm pretty sure I heard some beedrill nearby when I was kicking that caterpie into the ground." As he said this, the other girls seemed to tremble, moving together. Even the one in the driver's seat clutched the steering wheel and shrunk into the leather of the chair.
"A bug expert?!" the girl squashing Bugsy cried, tightening her grip on his head.
"That's right," Gary replied offhandedly, stepping away from the car and turning to look at the one driving his car, deciding he wanted to know more about what she had mentioned before. "What were you saying before about news?"
"Oh, you might want to read this," she said, pulling out a piece of paper and handing it to Gary. He took it, raising an eyebrow and holding it in front of himself as he scanned the contents.
"Faraway Island, huh? Legendary Pokemon?" he seemed deadpan at the news, eyes half-lidded with disinterest as he digested the information. The girls seemed to watch him desperately, silently begging for his happiness so they would be deserving of praise or reward, or at least of Gary. The girl holding Bugsy clung tight, finding comfort in his purple-topped head. "Well of course I have to go!" Gary cried, displaying his usual confident smirk and tossing the paper back at the girl without a glance. "That pokemon's waitin' for me!" He pulled out two pokeballs from his belt, holding them out to Squirtle and Rattata. In two flashes of red, they disappeared and were returned to his waist. Gary then turned to the girls, placing his hands on his hips. "Now get my car out of this forest!"
The girl in the front seat appeared pleased, a silent smile tracing her thin lips. The others cheered, waving their pompoms and chanting the usual "Gary, Gary, he's our man!"
"You can call me Mary," the girl holding Bugsy said, having released him, bending down to his level and winking.
((lalala sorry rushy rushyy 'cause I'm lame like that ;D ))

Bugsy very much wanted to tell Gary that though he was right about hearing the Beedrill in the nearby trees, the Beedrill were far enough away from their nest that they wouldn't get territorial if they saw the humans or the car. In fact, if they saw the people they would instead have probably fled closer to their hive to create a more powerful defensive perimeter. But unfortunately, the boy’s face, and therefore his mouth, was currently being shoved into an unfamiliar female’s chest. Bugsy was still much too young and innocent to appreciate this, and it simply made him feel extremely flustered and embarrassed. He wasn’t used to being hugged so…violently. In fact, he wasn’t much accustomed to hugs at all.
He felt the girl’s chest vibrate very slightly as she spoke up, and tightened her hold around his head. It was all very…awkward. He didn’t even know this girl’s name, and he thought it rude to be acting so close and personal with her without even knowing her name. Even though the whole close and personal thing wasn’t really Bugsy’s choice or anything, he still felt it was.
He could hear rather well considering his position, so he listened intently as the blond curl he had seen and heard earlier spoke, and Gary responded. Legendary pokemon? He was going somewhere to find one? Well, at least he would be taking the car with him out of the forest.
Suddenly, Bugsy realized he was free from the girl’s hold. He inhaled deeply; it had been slightly difficult to breath in that position. The girl’s face was suddenly very close to his as she kneeled down to his level. “Oh! Uhm, it’s very nice to meet you, Mary. My name’s Bugsy,” Bugsy told, holding out a hand in his usual gesture of a handshake. His face was flushed and red, and he kept averting his eyes from her face out of embarrassment, but he still offered her a cheery smile.

RRRRrrrrrrr...
The car's engine revved as the girl in front switched gears with a jerk of her arm. Gary remained standing outside of the vehicle as it quickly backed through the forest, crunching undergrowth and snapping fallen debris as it went. The convertible soon cleared the trees, and was out in the open where its red paintjob and leather seats could be more easily admired. By now, the sun had long fallen and the sky was only illuminated by stars and a single sliver of a moon. Gary easily walked out of the forest, the end of his black shirt caught on his wrists as he pocketed his hands.
After shaking the adorable boy's hand, Mary had straightened, turning around as the other girls reversed out of the trees. She had opted not to release Bugsy's hand, but instead attempted to lead him out of the forest toward the others.
Once the car was back where it belonged, Gary walked around to the passenger's side and hurled himself over the door, settling comfortably into the seat with his hands cradling the back of his head. He glanced up, spotting Bugsy and Mary.
"Say, I guess we'll have to postpone our match," Gary shrugged, then sat up, grabbing the flyer he had thrown back into the car. "Have you heard of this?" He held out the paper to Bugsy.

The purr of the nearby car's engine reminded Bugsy of its presence. He had been lost in a flustered daze for a moment, but at the sound he turned to look at the vivid, shiny red vehicle through the trees. He felt a light tug on his arm, glancing to the side to realize that Mary was holding his hand and was leading him towards the car. He moved after her when she began to tug lightly, a blush still colouring his cheeks.
He paused at the side of the car, looking down at Gary. He felt suddenly very awkward, as he realized that the older boy would soon be leaving, and he wasn't the best at saying goodbye. Especially since he didn't even know if they were friends at all. He was relieved, then, when the goodbye was postponed.
"Yep, but whenever we meet again I hope to have a chance to battle you," He told cheerfully, rocking back and forth on his heels. He blinked and stopped this action, however, reaching out a hand to take the flyer. He read over it, his eyebrows furrowing. "Oh, wow! I didn't hear of that, yet! I should go buy myself a ticket; that sounds like a lot of fun!" He told happily.
"Are you planning to go then, Gary?"

"Definitely." Gary affirmed the desire to battle, lifting his gaze away from Bugsy without another thought and crossing his arms comfortably over his chest, settling back in his chair simultaneously: it was obvious that he was ready to go. The blond behind the steering wheel gazed contently at Bugsy and Mary, one hand ready to switch the gear into drive. Mary still waited by Bugsy's side; it seemed she wanted to give the boy a decent good-bye once the time came, and would not distance herself for a minute to discourage her chances to cuddle him.
Bugsy's exclamation about the cruise hardly affected Gary. He closed his eyes lazily. "Of course I'm going," he stated. Before much else could commence, (Gary wasn't planning on extending his reply, anyway) Mary squealed, immediately lowering herself slightly and latching onto Bugsy's arm.
"Why don't you come with us?!" the girl declared, bringing her face to Bugsy's level, expression considerably bright. "There's plenty of room in the car," (the girls barely fit) "and it wouldn't be any trouble!"
Gary looked up at the two, quirking an indifferent eyebrow. He shrugged, sitting up slightly. "I don't have a problem with it," he uttered in his nasal voice, though he seemed more intent on leaving quickly than on anything else.
